The name of William Morris could probably sounds unfamiliar to you but he in fact is one of the greatest designers of Great Britain for all times. Probably the word craftsman is more appropriate in the case if we consider the time he lived and worked – to be specific 1834 – 1896. The level of technology at that time and the fact that all the things were hand-made or made by hand-made devices and tools and besides he was as well a writer, political figure, created a factory, publishing house, book designs, his own typeface only can make us admire the talent, inspiration and energy of this man. The house he spent most of his childhood is today turned into a museum-gallery where everybody can meet and enjoy his artworks. On the two floors there are exhibited rugs, drapes, textiles, wallpapers, woodworks on furniture, painting on ceramic tiles, paintings, stained glass windows, books and publications.
